Michael Esser is a German scriptwriter who lives and works in Los Angeles. He has won the New York Screenwriting Contest in 2014 and was a finalist at the Los Angeles Family Film Festival, the Austin Film Festival the same year and more recently at World Series of Screenwriting. In 1994, Michael created one of Germany’s first daily drama series Verbotene Liebe (Forbidden Love). He continued his career as a creative producer with Germany’s biggest independent producer, REGINA ZIEGLER FILM, overseeing international drama co-productions with Italy, France, Poland and China, where he worked with director Zang Yimou. He is a member of DafF (Deutsche Akademie fuer Fernsehen), VDD (Verband Deutscher Drehbuchautoren) and WAGW (Writers Guild of America West – Independent Writers Caucus) and of HRTS (Hollywood Radio and Television Society).
