Marc van der Chijs
Marc van der Chijs is a Managing Parnter at CrossPacific Capital Partners, based in Vancouver. Mr. Van der Chijs has more than 20 years of professional experience working with multinational companies, Venture Capital, and venture-backed start-up companies in Europe, North America and China. For CrossPacific he focuses his investments in FinTech, Internet/Social Media, and disruptive HealthTech. He is a big believer in Bitcoin and blockchain-related technologies and invested in several companies in this space. He also believes in P2P models for finance, and is among others a board member for Chinese P2P lending company Dianrong.com and a co-founder or P2P insurance company Uvamo.com (not launched yet).
Mr. Van der Chijs was the co-founder of Tudou.com, a leading Chinese online video site, listed on the NASDAQ in 2011 and merged with Youku into Youku Tudou in 2012. He also founded and invested in online customized fashion company UnitedStyles, which was launched at TechCrunch Disrupt in Beijing and was chosen as one of the top 10 most innovative global fashion companies by Fast Company.
From 2006 until 2011 Mr. Van der Chijs was the CEO for Asia of Spil Games, an online game platform with game studios in Europe and Shanghai. Prior to that he among others co-founded China Bay Partners, doing market entry consulting for foreign companies planning to set up operations in China. From 1996 until 2002 Mr. Van der Chijs worked for Daimler Benz in various financial positions in Germany, Indonesia and China.
Mr. Van der Chijs has a Masters in Business Economics from Maastricht University, and studied Mandarin Chinese at Beijin Foreign Studies University.
Mr. Van der Chijs speaks fluent Dutch, English, and German, and a fair bit of Mandarin and French.
